Four people have been arrested after a police officer was shot and injured in Nottingham city centre, prompting a major investigation by Nottinghamshire Police.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:50 am on Sunday, 18 October, when the officer approached two suspects at a bus stop on Angel Row. The officer sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and was taken to hospital, where he remained in a stable condition in the latest police update.
Police said three people were arrested after officers stopped a vehicle in Nottingham’s Radford area. A fourth suspect was arrested after a separate vehicle stop in Bedfordshire.
A 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. Two other suspects, aged 24 and 25, and a 30-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
A firearm has been recovered, and the police cordon on Angel Row has been lifted. Officers said a visible police presence would remain in the area while enquiries continued.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing, and the arrests do not mean that any suspect has been convicted.
